The UKP-2-1 Tandem Accelerator Complex Beam Instrumentation and Data Acquisition Systems: Operational Status and Upgrade Plan / K.E.Popov, [a.o.]. – Text : electronic // Advances in Nuclear Science and Applications. – 2026. – Vol. 2, No. 3. – P. 235-242. – URL: https://doi.org/10.63907/ansa.v2i3.99. – Bibliogr.: 10.
The UKP-2-1 tandem accelerator complex is located at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Almaty, Kazakhstan. Its main applications are surface analysis, ion implantation, and irradiation. The complex has two injectors and five beam transport lines. The injectors share a common high-voltage terminal. The first three beamlines are dedicated mainly to proton and light-ion studies, whereas the fourth and fifth are used for heavy-ion irradiation and implantation. The facility operates in two modes. In the first mode, a selected injector and beamline are operated with one ion species produced by either the duoplasmatron or the cesium-sputter ion source. In the second mode, two ion sources and beamlines can be operated simultaneously to irradiate and analyze the same target. Therefore, beam instrumentation, a fully automated control system, as well as a data acquisition system, are essential for the materials-science research program at the UKP-2-1. This paper describes the present accelerator configuration, the operational status of the beam instrumentation, the control system and planned upgrades.
