Ultraperipheral collisions of heavy ions provide a clean environment for extensive studies of two-photon and photonuclear reactions. In this work, we present a Monte Carlo event generator, Upcgen, that implements a refined treatment of photon fluxes in the Weizsäcker–Williams framework based on realistic nuclear charge form factor. The capabilities include simulation of dilepton production with an arbitrary value of anomalous magnetic moment, light-by-light scattering and resonant production of axion-like particles. In addition, we present an update on Upcgen, providing a possibility to model photoproduction of heavy vector mesons within the leading order perturbative QCD framework, with the gluon density in nuclei modeled using either the EPS09 parametrization or the leading twist approximation. In view of new experimental data expected in Runs 3 and 4 of the Large Hadron Collider, one can strongly benefit from a powerful tool for detailed studies of the kinematic properties of photoproduction processes.
