Effect of Irradiation on Cooperative Relaxation in Poly(Vinylidene Fluoride) / E.A.Volgina, D.E.Temnov, A.N.Nechaev, N.Kirilkin, A.Rossouw. – Text : electronic // Radiation Physics and Chemistry. – 2026. – Vol. 240. – P. 113413. – URL: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.radphyschem.2025.113413. – Bibliogr.: p. 113413-(6-7).
This paper reports an investigation into cooperative relaxation processes in poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) films irradiated with heavy Ne, Xe, and Bi ions, using thermally stimulated depolarization currents (TSDC). Analysis of the TSDC spectra revealed three distinct relaxation processes at approximately 10 &sup(o)C, 25 &sup(o)C, and 50 &sup(o)C, attributed to molecular mobility within different polymer phases. It was observed that irradiation with ions of varying masses uniquely affects the energetic characteristics of these relaxation processes, indicating distinct macromolecular deformation mechanisms induced by ionizing radiation. An improved analytical approach is proposed, enabling accurate separation of cooperative relaxation processes and precise determination of the associated activation energies and frequency factors
