Photonuclear Reactions on *1*9*7Au: Comparison of Experimental Results and Theoretical Predictions / M.Krmar, Yu.Teterev, S.Mitrofanov, K.D.Timoshenko, S.I.Alexeev, [a.o.]. – Text : electronic // The European Physical Journal A. – 2026. – Vol. 62, No. 3. – P. 58. – URL: https://doi.org/10.1140/epja/s10050-026-01833-4. – Bibliogr.: 29.
In this study, the *1*9*7Au(*g,n)*1*9*6Au reaction was used to monitor the photon flux, and the intensity of the bremsstrahlung beam was normalized using several available cross-section datasets. For other gold isotopes, whose gamma lines were identified in off-line gamma spectroscopic measurements, the experimental values of the flux-averaged cross sections were determined. It was observed that the results depend, to some extent, on the method used for normalizing the bremsstrahlung spectrum. These experimental results are compared to the flux-averaged cross sections obtained from TALYS theoretical cross-section estimates. Theoretical values of the flux-averaged cross sections were calculated for 60 combinations of photon strength function and level density models. For the (*g,n) reaction, approximately half of these combinations yield estimates that are comparable to the experimental results at the endpoint energies of 40, 50 and 60 MeV. However, the agreement for the (*g,3n),(*g,4n), and (*g,5n) reactions is significantly worse, with only a few combinations out of 54 providing flux-averaged cross sections that match the experimental values.
