The crystal structure and vibrational spectra of CoFe&sub(2)O&sub(4) ferrite were studied using X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy over a pressure range of 0–35GPa. A structural phase transition from the cubic Fd3^-m phase to the post-spinel orthorhombic Bbmm phase occurs at a pressure of approximately 23GPa through a two-phase region. Pressure-induced changes in the structural parameters, lattice distortion, and vibrational modes of the studied ferrite were investigated in detail. Lattice parameters, bond lengths, compressibility, and bulk modulus for both the cubic and orthorhombic phases of CoFe&sub(2)O&sub(4) were determined.
