The dynamics of pulses propagating in nonlinear dispersive medium are considered. The analysis is based on a theoretical model without the dispersion series expansion that is applicable to the complex dispersion response of air containing many components. A soliton-like solution and the conditions of its stability are obtained. It is shown that there is a limit to the duration of the signal under which it will be stable.
