Production of Th Nuclei in the *4*8Ca+*1*7*0Yb and *5*4Cr+*1*6*4Dy Reactions / R.N.Sagaidak, V.K.Utyonkov, F.Sh.Abdullin, S.N.Dmitriev, D.Ibadullayev, M.G.Itkis, N.D.Kovrizhnykh, D.A.Kuznetsov, O.V.Petrushkin, A.V.Podshibiakin, A.N.Polyakov, A.G.Popeko, V.D.Shubin, M.V.Shumeiko, D.I.Solovyev, Yu.S.Tsyganov, A.A.Voinov, N.S.Bublikova, M.G.Voronyuk, A.V.Sabelnikov, A.Yu.Bodrov, X.Y.Huang, [a.o.] // Physical Review C [Electronic resource]. – 2024. – Vol. 110, No. 4. – P. 044609. – URL: https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.110.044609. – Bibliogr.: 55.
Cross-section data for Th nuclei produced in the *4*8Ca+*1*7*0Yb and *5*4Cr+*1*6*4Dy fusion-evaporation reactions leading to the same *2*1*8Th* compound nucleus (CN) were obtained with the Dubna Gas-Filled Recoil Separator (DGFRS-2) at energies around the fusion barriers. These data, corresponding to the neutron evaporation channels in both reactions, are considered from the point of view of the CN formation probability in going from the *4*8Ca to *5*4Cr-induced reactions. Such interest stems from searching for ways to synthesize superheavy nuclei (SHN) in reactions with projectiles heavier than *4*8Ca, bearing in mind that numerous calculations show a significant drop in the SHN production cross section when going from *4*8Ca to heavier projectiles. The mutual comparison of Th production cross sections for *4*8Ca+*1*7*0Yb and *5*4Cr+*1*6*4Dy reactions allowed us to obtain the CN formation probability imposed by the quasifission effect, which is more inherent in the *5*4Cr+*1*6*4Dy reaction as compared to *4*8Ca+*1*7*0Yb.
