In the present work, hybrid elastomers are fabricated, in different compositions, from silicone rubber, carbonyl iron powder, lead powder or bismuth powder and cotton cloth, as a natural polymer. The aim of the present research was to prove that X-ray absorbents fulfilling the requirements and international directives on replacing lead from equipment for radiation protection of medical personnel can be made from basic materials. Using measuring the light transmission through the radiologic films, it was observed that the relative absorption of X-rays is influenced by the quantity and nature of the micrometric powders used in the preparation of the samples. – (AIP Conference Proceedings ; Vol. 2843) .
