The paper presents a study of the mechanical properties of 5 mm diameter and 12 *mm wall thick straws, such as their sagging, displacement, and diameter dependence on overpressure and external axial load. This study is crucial for keeping the COMET Phase-II Straw Tracker System (STS) spatial resolution at 150 *mm to achieve a momentum resolution better than 200 keV/c for 105 MeV/c electrons with the 8 GeV proton beam intensity increased from 3.2 to 56 kW during Phase-II. The STS must operate in a vacuum with the inner pressure of 1 bar applied to the straws. It is found that the diameter of the straw tube increases by 16.1 *( 2.0 *mm per bar of delivered pressure and shrinks by 1.3 *( 0.3 *mm per 100 g of external axial load. For the straw with a 1.34 m length, at least 200 g axial load is needed to keep the straightness better than 200 μm.
