The CMS experiment provides measurements of the soft and hard QCD processes using samples of proton–proton and AA collisions collected at different energies. Measurements include particle multiplicity, particle momentum spectra and correlations, jet properties and production rates, and are compared with predictions of theoretical models at leading, next-to-leading and next-next-to-leading QCD fixed order accuracy. The data in combination with measurements obtained by other experiments are used to measure the strong coupling constant and for PDF constraints.
